Understanding the structure of the pelvis and the muscles of the pelvic floor are not only important when working in the Pilates environment but extremely important for our overall health and wellbeing. Learn how these muscles are a key player of our Core, how to access and use them and how the pelvic floor connects to every system of our body.
In this workshop, we will dive into the anatomy and physiology of the pelvis, learn exercises to support our pelvic floor, discuss common issues and answer important questions relating to our pelvic floor.
Bring your curiosity and questions. This workshop is open for women of all ages and will include meditation, discussion and exercise. We are thrilled to be co-teaching this offering with Dr. Charmaine Quijano, a doctor of Physical Therapy with over 30 years of clinical experience and a dear friend. She is known in many circles as the “vagina whisperer” and brings extensive knowledge, humor, deep wisdom and reverence to her work.
Lana Halvorsen has been teaching pilates and movement exercise for the last 35 years. This will be her 4th pelvic floor workshop and is excited to be co-teaching with Charmaine. Lana’s embodied approach to teaching and love of nuance is infectious and formidable.
Charmaine Quijano PT, DPT has over 30 years of clinical experience and has a private practice in Midtown Manhattan where she specializes in myofascial work and pelvic dysfunction. She is known as the “Vagina Whisperer” in some circles. She and Lana are thrilled to be co-teaching this workshop together.

Pelvic Floor Workshop
Understanding the pelvic floor is not only important when working in the Pilates environment but extremely important for our overall health. Learn why the pelvis is key for hip health, lower back health, spine health while learning to become a supportive partner to it. In this workshop, we will dive into the anatomy and physiology of the pelvis as well as learn how it moves, where neutral is and how it connects to every other system in our body. Bring your curiosity and questions. This workshop will include meditation, discussion, exercises, and movement.
Light Touch in the Pilates Environment
Light Touch is a way to connect with the body in a gentle and mindful way using our hands. We use our knowledge of anatomy with deep listening and presence to offer connection and release to various areas of the body. In this workshop we will teach techniques of Light Touch and how to use it with your practice with clients. It is an effective way to help resolve and clear tension, injury and trauma and super useful in the Pilates environment. This workshop is designed for Pilates teachers.
Light Touch Workshop
In this workshop we will explore Light Touch techniques and how we can use them to heal ourselves. We will focus on using Light Touch, as well as use visualizations, ball work and mindfulness to discover how these tools can help resolve tension, injury and trauma. In this workshop we will also explore intuition and how this is an effective partner in healing. All are welcome!
